This, for me, is what Menemsha, is all about.
A village of tiny buildings designed with one thing in mind.
Fishermen.
Generations going down to the sea in ships.
With just enough furniture to sit on while you repair the rods
and have a place to sleep
so you can tumble out of bed
onto the dock
and into the boat
before the first sip of coffee is down the gullet.

Living and working at the waterline.

I have David to thank for the gift of entry to this sanctuary.
His generous and creative spirit saw what he knew I would see…needed to see.
I’ve been painting the outside of these shacks for years now,
but he understands that the true history lives on the inside.

Where the oil lamps are lit
and the swords are hung
and the tall tales are told.

With humble appreciation to both David and Matt.
