For the Morse Family

So we’re strolling in downtown West Tisbury
headed from the Farmer’s Market over to the Field Gallery
and this car comes careening in a serpentine fashion up onto the
sidewalk and comes to a sliding halt at the tips of our quivering keds.

Chris leans out with his usual grin,
hey there gals.
Wildman sees that we’re shaken and reaches for the cupholder
between the front seats and hands me these two marbles.
The father to be already has the cutest, cleverest little girl on the planet.
Now Sheila is expecting twins.

He says this was his truck as a boy.
He kids a lot.
But I know the quilt was from the Mayhew family.
Both, generously offered to me as painting props.
He’s like that too.

Hold on girls,
it’s going to be a wild ride !
