These Painter’s Notes are written retrospectively
which is perfect because this painting now lives with Sid.
Sir Sidney, the world renowned professor of architecture, sailor of the seas,
scholar emeritus of fine foods and wines,
rarely bested raconteur,
tinkerer and engineer and inventor
all rolled into one salt and pepper package of a soul.

To know Sid is to know a true renaissance man
and to spend any time sitting by his side is have the world open before you.
With Peggy by his side, they have traveled that world several times over
and oh the places you can see through his stories.

I take my indigo blue greek fisherman’s hat off to you Sir Sid…
may your mechanical pencils be ever as sharp
as your sparklingly mischievous wink !
