Firewalker

The subtitle for this painting is…

Shrimp on the Barbie.

Well… of course it is.
And would you believe that I have had it scribbled
in the possible painting list
carried over from one sketchbook to the next
for years.

And that I actually found (on EBAY) the tiny apron and barbecue tools
which were designed
just for Barbie.

The doll is mine.
We are exactly the same age
but we don’t ever dress alike.
And I never
positively never
could get my feet
into that position.

But I do admire her bravery…
I’m not sure how I got through the 80’s
without encountering a firepit
with all the workshops I attended.

But I’m pretty sure…
If I had…
I would have
dropped that shrimp.
