This is Pat’s
favorite corner.
From here she can stretch out
And read and nap all day.
A log on the fire every now and then. Cup of tea and
piece of Chilmark chocolate.
Out one window is the bluff
and a wedge of the sea.
Before her is a view into every other room in the cabin.

She can follow my impatient progress from painting idea to painting idea.
Or from chair to chair as I assemble all the accoutrements of “leisure”.
Reading material, knitting bag, beverage, nosh, lamplight, big dog at my feet, etc.
Then just as I am settling in…where are the binoculars?
Have you seen the sketchbook?
I think the sun is coming out.
So all is hoisted up and reassembled in a chair out on the bluff.
Until…
The October wind is too much…
And the sun goes back behind the clouds…
And Gully and I haul it all back indoors.

Where Herself lays perfectly content . . .
To love us through the dance.
