Swept Away

The broom was a particularly good find from a church sale in Vineyard Haven.

It hangs on this door to the ironing board cupboard in the studio kitchen.

Most of the time it lies demurely
in waiting for the odd bit of dog hair
that gets trapped behind the dress form in the corner nearby.

But every now and then a breeze slips in
through the garden window
and one of the teacups seizes the chance for a bit of a ride.

Ever in tune to the old adage that…

chance favors the prepared mind.
